When You Least Expect It
I dreamt that it would come
but it never did
and for a moment I felt like a kid
expecting a gift that never came
so deep down inside I stifled the pain.
What’s the use of hoping at all?
If all you get is bitter as gall.
Then as soon as I no longer cared
the postman came ringing and I wasn’t there.
Life can be so unfair at times
it will make you wait, it will watch you cry.
Will you give up when things get hard,
or learn to wait through the rise and the fall?
When you least expect it is when it comes
so don’t let it find you desperate and glum
while you wait try and have some fun
don’t let your worries bring you down
learn to be patient and stick around.
When you least expect it…
alas… it’s found!
