Sometimes we can be so hard on ourselves. We pretend and expect only the best and when that doesn’t happen we treat ourselves harshly. I have heard people say some terrible things to themselves like, “I never get anything right”, “I’m so stupid”, “people can’t stand me “, I’m a terrible person” and the list goes on and on. Can you imagine what would happen if you said those same words to someone else? How would that make them feel? They’d probably hit you upside the head, most definitely they’d give you a piece of their mind or end your their interaction with you. Treating ourselves with gentleness and patience is not something that we normally do.
Selflove is a commitment to ourselves no matter what life throws at us. Be gentle! It’s easy to feel good about ourselves when everything is going great. No problems, no worries, no setbacks, no hardships…easy. Trying to feel the same way when you’re down on your luck is not an easily attainable feat.
I have found out the hard way that how I treat myself can sometimes be reflected in how I let others treat me. I too have said some terrible things to myself. I was always unsatisfied, it was like I was never enough. Do more, be more, more, more.

Today I am learning to treat me the way I want to be treated by others. Treating myself with love and patience while being gentle has also helped me to treat others the same. You can never give to others what you can’t give to yourself. It all begins and ends with you.
Has anyone else come to this conclusion? Have you struggled with self sabotaging habits, poor relationship choices, procrastination, people pleasing etc? Please feel free to comment, I would love to hear your thoughts.
