Finding Joy in Solitude

I grew up in a big family, there was always someone around and I was never alone. As the years passed I slowly began to seek alone time with myself. I would go for long walks in the countryside where I lived for most of my childhood. Those were the moments when I was most myself, it was just me, my emotions, the scenery and most of all silence. I love and I still do today being alone in the midst of nature. It was my sacred place, it was on those long walks that I fell in love with all that surrounded me. It was immense all that open space, trees, animals, insects, plant life and I was fascinated by everything!

Sacred space

Today I find joy in solitude knowing that it’s my moment to reflect, take care of my needs, know exactly what I want and to actively do what I’m capable of to make the best out of this life. When I’m alone my mind becomes much clearer and I’m less burden by the worries of life. I need to be alone at times, away from everyone else and anything that is a distraction. I find that I become more creative, more optimistic and more open minded when I take a break and have some me time. I find joy in solitude it helps me unwind and regroup my missing pieces. Parts of me that get lost or put on hold when everything and everyone else calls for my attention. I have become my best company so that when I am in company I can be the best version of myself.
